Bowen Technique

The Bowen Technique is a gentle, non-invasive therapy. The Bowen therapist, using only fingers and thumbs, makes gentle rolling movements at precise points (over muscles, tendons, ligaments or nerves), interspersed with periods of rest.

Just as acupuncture concentrates on precise points in the body, Bowen also uses trigger points to help the body heal itself. The treatment takes about 45 minutes and in many cases relief from pain is experienced on the first visit. Many people state that over the next 3-4 days they experience reactions as the body accepts the therapy and realigns itself. Long term relief from chronic and acute pain can often be achieved in three or four visits.

How successful is the technique?
The technique has a remarkable record of success. Devised in Australia by Tom Bowen in the 1950s, he treated 13,000 patients a year with an 80-90% success rate. Bowen was first brought to the UK in 1993 and clinical studies show it has impressive results on a variety of conditions.
