What is hypnosis and clinical hypnotherapy?

Clinical hypnotherapy is a form of therapy that utilises the power of positive suggestion to bring about subconscious change to your thoughts, feelings, symptoms and behaviours. The process itself alters your state of consciousness in a natural way by inducing the state of hypnosis.
This involves relaxing the conscious part of the mind while simultaneously stimulating and focussing the subconscious part. Hypnosis is a physically relaxed state with an associated mental focus. It is a really pleasant experience and helps you to de-stress regardless of the specific treatment.

How does it work?

After giving you an opportunity to discuss your problem at your first session we will begin with a relaxing, stabilising hypnosis session. We will agree an approach to your problem or problems, some specific suggestions will be discussed, we will set goals and always be focussed on solutions.

What kind of problems can be treated?

Anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, performance issues, PTSD, addictions, insomnia, weight control and much more.
It can reduce fears, alleviate symptoms, improve personal abilities and enhance skills.

Cognitive/behavioural hypnotherapy

Spencer uses a form of cognitive, behavioural and emotional hypnotherapy called RECBH. This is a modern, scientific approach to therapy that combines cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and hypnosis to positively influence emotional, behavioural, cognitive and symptomatic change.

Can anyone be hypnotised?

Most people can be hypnotised. However, nobody can be hypnotised against their will.
