Top tips for your back

January 11, 2020 by Andrew

It’s Back Care Awareness week and this year focuses on back pain in older adults. Andrew Fung, one of Holistic Health's Osteopaths, shares some information and a few tips to ensure your back is getting the care it needs.

Did you know that most of us experience some form of back pain in our lifetime? And it becomes ever more likely the older we get. While back pain when you are younger usually has a limited range of causes, as we age these increase to include conditions that come about because of wear and tear and physiological changes like osteoporosis, fractures, infections and a narrowing of the spinal column known as stenosis.
The good news is that the best time to do something about your back is now – whatever age you are. Building up strength through movement and exercise, developing good habits like taking regular breaks from sitting at a desk, and eating a balanced diet will all help.

  1. Keep moving your body as it relies on movement to stay healthy.
  2. Don’t panic…most back pain isn’t serious and your back isn’t ‘weak’.
  3. Pay attention to your posture, not just when sitting down.

At Holistic Health our back care specialists can also lend a hand. Our Osteopaths and Physiotherapists have decades of experience between them helping people to keep their backs in the best possible condition. So why not give something back to your hard-working back? Call us on 0207 275 8434 or email to book an appointment.

With love,
Tracy and the Holistic Health team x
